Picture of a Squirrel’s Nest (or “Drey”)
People quite often wonder what a squirrel’s nest (officially called a “drey”) looks like.
In this picture, we’ve been able to get a reasonably clear image of a grey squirrel’s drey.
Although it’s about the size of a large bird’s nest, a winter drey is held together by mud and leaves (bird’s nest are usually wholly or mostly made of twigs, and have a neater appearance).
Hope this helps to make drey-spotting easier.
